Hawaii-based Natural Power Concepts, Inc., a Hawaii-based alternative energy technology incubator, announced an agreement with Oshkosh Defense, to collaborate on mobile wind turbine technology development that includes integrated photovoltaic modules.
Natural Power Concepts is a Hawaii-based alternative energy technology incubator focused on developing innovative new ways of harvesting electricity from natural forces such as wind, waves, tidal and current flow, and solar or geothermal heat. Oshkosh Defense, a division of Oshkosh Corporation, is an industry-leading global designer and manufacturer of tactical military trucks and armored wheeled vehicles, delivering a full product line of conventional and hybrid vehicles, advanced armor options, proprietary suspensions and vehicles with payloads that can exceed 70 tons.
The Renewable Energy Mission Module (REMM) will feature an Natural Power Concepts-designed folding-blade turbine that could be delivered to forward operating bases and other remote locations by Oshkosh vehicles equipped with a Load Handling System. In addition to electricity generation, REMM units can be outfitted with expanded capabilities such as water purification or desalination systems for use in disaster management and humanitarian assistance missions, all powered by the REMM’s unique folding wind turbine and integrated solar modules.
