Evolution Solar (EVSO) announced today that phase 1 of construction is complete on its photovoltaic (PV) demonstration project at Texas Southern University’s (TSU) campus in Houston, Texas.

EVSO is partnering with TSU to install eight AmpleSun thin-film PV panels on the campus that are intended to serve as a cornerstone of the new TSU Green Technology Center. The project will be EVSO’s first array featuring the AmpleSun panels in the US.

Phase 1 of the construction project included the relocation of fencing surrounding TSU’s existing campus array of solar panels as well as constructing several cement posts for the new array. In phase 2, TSU engineering students will receive course credit to assist in assembling the array’s rack-mount system and installing the eight solar panels.

“This installation is not only a great opportunity for Evolution Solar to showcase AmpleSun’s leading-edge thin-film panels, but a chance to introduce generations of students to solar technology as well,” said Robert Hines, president of EVSO. “We’re very pleased that Phase I of the project is complete and look forward to the completion of the second phase.”
