Sustainable Energy Technologies Ltd., a solar inverter company, announced today that Envirolink MDM, a distributor of environmental products, will begin distributing Sunergy inverters through its extensive network of dealers and other equipment manufacturer (OEM) partners in Southern Ontario, Canada.
The Sunergy inverters will power a new series of turnkey solar photovoltaic (PV) solutions being introduced by Envirolink for projects ranging from ground-mounted trackers to rooftop systems, awnings and facades. Envirolink has committed to take a minimum of 1 megawatt (MW) of the inverters with the first deliveries scheduled this month. Envirolink has seen increased interest among its customers for the value of parallel solar, which Sunergy inverters have, according to Roderick Butler, Envirolink's president and chief executive officer. Sunergy inverters also require no enclosure to protect against the cold.
Envirolink's expansion into grid-connected solar PV is significant, according to Michael Carten, chief executive officer of Sustainable Energy. The micro Feed-in Tariff (microFiT) program enables everyday Canadians who want to contribute to the energy solution to do so. The microFiT program is part of the Feed-in Tariff (FiT) program for renewable energy from the Ontario Power Authority (OPA). While the FiT program applies to projects of more than 10 kilowatts (kW), the microFiT program applies to projects of 10kW or less.
