Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K.'s solar cell-making subsidiary said Monday it will set up sales firms in the United States and Germany in April.
The new firms to be formed in northern California and Munich will target the proprietary non-silicon-based solar panels of Showa Shell Solar K.K. in the U.S. and European markets now that the company's third plant is due to open in Miyazaki in 2011, said Showa Shell Solar.
The company's annual output of solar panels is expected to reach 1 gigawatt per year, one of the highest in the world, after the completion of the new Miyazaki plant.
Showa Shell Solar also said it will be renamed Solar Frontier K.K. on April 1.
