PV_Expo_Tape_Cutting_Ceremony_2011The 5th International Photovoltaic Power Generation Expo (PV Expo 2012) will take place on 29 February - 2 March 2012 at the Tokyo Big Sight in Japan as part of World Smart Energy Week 2012.

Reed Exhibitions Japan is organising PV Expo, one of Japan's largest photovoltaic (PV) exhibitions. Since Japan's earthquake and tsunami on 11 March 2011, the nation's concern with nuclear energy has been on the rise. As Japan's new Feed-in Tariff (FiT) policy goes into effect in July 2012, business opportunities for PV energy are expected to increase in Japan.

The total number of exhibitors and exhibition space for PV Expo 2012 and World Smart Energy Week 2012 has overtaken last year's numbers (i.e., 1950 exhibitors are expected in 2012 compared to ~1560 exhibitors that attended in 2011). The show is also becoming increasingly international as the range of countries involved expands.

Many of the top Japanese companies, such as Sharp, Kyocera, Panasonic, Mitsubishi Electric and Solar Frontier, will be exhibiting. Other Asian companies, such as Yingli Green Energy, Trina Solar, Gintech Energy Corporation, AU Optronics and Neo Solar Power, will also be exhibiting. Other international companies, such as SunPower and Isofoton, will join the show as well. In addition, Dr. Zhengrong Shi, founder, chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Suntech Power Holdings, is expected to appear.

World Smart Energy Week 2012 is a collective gathering of renewable energy exhibitions. The following shows are occurring concurrently with PV Expo:

• 8th International Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Expo (FC Expo 2012)

• 2nd International Smart Grid Expo

• 3rd International Photovoltaic Power Generation System Expo (PV System Expo)

• 3rd International Rechargeable Battery Expo (Battery Japan)

• 2nd Eco House & Eco Building Expo

• 3rd Processing Technology Expo (Enetec Japan)
