The Australian solar industry has called on the Federal Coalition to back a national Same Price for Solar.
“The Australian Solar Energy Society cautiously welcomes suggestions a Coalition Government will take a national approach to the management of clean energy programs”, said John Grimes, the Chief Executive of the AuSES.
“Australia’s solar industry would welcome a consistent national approach to solar and clean energy programs,” Mr Grimes said. He added that, "The solar industry has been hamstrung by different support schemes in different States and Territories, administered independently and not coordinated with the Australian Government. All Australian Governments agreed in 2008 to National Principles for Feed-in Tariff Schemes and it’s about time those principles were implemented as a national fair price for solar.”
The group is pressing for a national fair price for solar that would ensure Australian families are paid the same price for the power they produce from their solar panels as they have to pay for power from coal-fired power stations.
