After another record year of growth in 2011, PV now represents 70GW of cumulative installed capacity globally, and produces up to 4% peak demand in the EU. Even if it faces challenges in the short term, the prospects are strong for continued robust growth in the medium- to long-term, and the technology can become a mainstream energy source and achieve high penetration in the electricity mix.
Take part in the debate and join EPIA events at the 27th European Photovoltaic Solar Energy Conference and Exhibition (EU PVSEC)- Conference 24-28 September 2012, Exhibition 25-28 September 2012- in Frankfurt, Germany.
9th European PV Industry Summit: "Mainstream and maturing: Challenges and opportunities for the PV industry as it moves towards high penetration"
Tuesday 25 September 2012, 13.30-18.00
The challenges and opportunities facing PV as it matures are the focus of the 9th European PV Industry Summit. High-level representatives from the PV industry, along with policy-makers and actors from the entire electricity value chain, will scan the prospects of PV for the coming years. The Summit will also present the main conclusions of EPIA's new report, "Solar Photovoltaics Competing in the Energy Sector - On the road to large scale grid integration".
Investors Day: "Risk mitigation in PV investments: The key to sustainable market
development?"
Wednesday 26 September 2012, 10.00-18.00
In a time of consolidation for the PV industry and of the approaching competitiveness of PV electricity generation, it is more than ever necessary for the PV industry and the investment community to explore innovative financial solutions. Which investments need to be made in manufacturing? How can the availability of affordable capital for projects - from large-scale plants development to retail projects - be ensured in a competitive environment? The Investors Day will feature CEO-level speakers from the PV industry as well as representatives from banks, investment funds, insurance companies and analysts.
Above events are part of a cycle of high-level conferences that will start with The 1st Europe-Asia PV Forum on Monday 24 September 2012, 14.30-18.00.
The Forum will provide a platform to exchange views and examine opportunities offered by global PV industry and markets. It will discuss how to support international cooperation for fast track PV development as well as new industrial models to facilitate the development of the technology in international markets. Presented by the EU PVSEC together with the European Commission, JRC, the Forum will gather politicians, large PV industry players and PV associations from around the globe.
Other workshops, meetings and networking events will take place at the EPIA booth during the whole week. EPIA members and exhibitors of the 27th EU PVSEC also have the opportunity to book industry presentations in the EU PVSEC exhibition. The number of slots is limited; first-come, first served. Find out more on the EPIA website. The 9th European PV Industry Summit and the Investors Day are official events of the 27th EU PVSEC and are jointly organised by the European Photovoltaic Industry Association (EPIA) and EU PVSEC.
