Schletter, Inc., Solar Mounting Systems, is urging members of the United States Senate and Congress, including Senators John McCain (R-Ariz.), and Jon Kyl (R-Ariz.), as well as solar advocate, Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (D-AZ 8th District), to support bills for solar manufacturing and purchasing.
The bills are S. 2755, in the Senate, and H.R. 4085 in the House, which would encourage solar manufacturing in the United States, and would expand the commercial solar Investment Tax Credit, to include the purchase of solar manufacturing equipment.
The Solar Manufacturing Jobs Creation Act (S. 2755) would add equipment used to manufacture solar energy generating property to the eligible property list of the existing Section 48 commercial solar investment tax credit (ITC). The legislation would allow a 30% credit for investments in equipment placed in service in US manufacturing facilities before 1 January, 2017.
An improved tax incentive for solar manufacturing will create long-term growth and US jobs. Tax incentives to support US solar manufacturing will ensure a strong solar manufacturing base and maximize renewable energy employment.
Since its US launch in 2008, Schletter, Inc., has brought numerous jobs to Tucson, Arizona, where their US headquarters are located, and pride themselves in helping to further develop a “clean energy” economy, that will create more and more “green jobs” within the United States.
