IHS Report Forecasts Global PV to Exceed 35GW in 2013

PV_Demand_in_2012_2013_IHS_PR_Q1Global photovoltaic (PV) installations are forecast to exceed 35 gigawatts (GW) in 2013, equivalent to growth of 12%, according to recently released analysis from IHS Research. IHS also reaffirmed its earlier prediction that global PV installations surpassed 30GW in 2012, with final analysis showing that installations, in fact, grew 14% to reach 31.4GW last year.

Solar Decathlon China 2013: First Solar Donates Solar to IMUT Team

SD_China_LogoFirst Solar, Inc. announced today that a team of students from Inner Mongolia University of Technology (IMUT) will use the Company's advanced thin-film solar photovoltaic (PV) modules to power its house in the 2013 Solar Decathlon China competition. First Solar donated 150 of its PV modules with a peak generating capacity of 13 kilowatts (KW) to IMUT's "Team Green Sun" and will provide technical support for the project team, as well as collaborating with IMUT on solar education. This is the third time First Solar has supported the Solar Decathlon competitions.

IHS Solar Module Industry ForecastAfter a disastrous third quarter of 2012 featuring extremely low factory utilization rates across the entire photovoltaic supply chain, the market saw a surge in demand in the final quarter of the year for PV modules.

A new PV module shipment record of 11GW was reached in the fourth quarter, according to the IHS Solar Integrated Market Tracker.
