Sales of German manufacturers of PV components, machinery and equipment fell in the first quarter of 2012 by 54 percent over the same quarter last year, the German Engineering Federation (VDMA) reported on the sidelines of the Intersolar North America in San Francisco this week.

SPG Solar today launched the next generation of its All Weather SunSeeker tracker at Intersolar North America 2012, taking place this week at the Moscone Centre in San Francisco, California, US. This updated single-axis tracker technology has been engineered by SPG Solar to cost less over its lifetime, deliver more solar energy over its lifetime and to last in all weather conditions. The SunSeeker is an automated single-axis tracker that follows the sun through the course of the day and produces up to 25% more solar energy than a fixed-tilt system.

Locus Energy today announced its LGate 350, a plug-and-play data acquisition system designed to collect performance data from commercial- and utility-scale solar PV installations. The standard configuration combines a revenue-grade power meter and Modbus-enabled datalogger pre-wired in an outdoor-rated enclosure. The LGate 350 can also be specified to collect data from a variety of peripheral devices and meteorological sensors.
The company will demonstrate LGate 350 at Intersolar North America, booth 8500.

PV module testing facility CFV Solar Test Laboratory (CFV) has been awarded the International Organization for Standardization’s ISO-IEC17025 certification, CFV today announced.
This ensures CFV’s customers that testing will be done to the highest possible quality standards and enables CFV to test PV modules for listing with the California Energy Commission (CEC) program, required to get incentives in California.

Power and automation technology company ABB today announced its debut in the solar market with concentrating photovoltaic (CPV) system powered by GreenVolts technology at Intersolar North America.
The CPV system is a result of ABB’s investment and strategic partnership with GreenVolts, which was announced in December 2011. The systems are modular and scalable for a variety of commercial and industrial applications including distributed loads of less than 1MW or for multi-megawatt utility-scale installations.
More than a dozen systems are installed and operating throughout the US Southwest.

SolarBridge Technologies, a provider of integrated microinverters for certified AC modules, today announced the launch of the company’s next-generation AC Module solution, including the Pantheon II microinverter and enhanced SolarBridge Management System, at Intersolar North America.
In addition, the company announces new partnerships with ET Solar, Mage Solar, NESL and Talesun Solar, all of whom will begin offering certified AC modules powered by SolarBridge microinverters to the North American market in Q3 of this year.
