Skyline_InnovationsAMCAL Housing, a leading affordable housing developer of more than $750 million worth of residential and mixed-use housing, announced it has entered an agreement with Skyline Innovations for the financing and development of solar hot water systems across 11 of its multifamily properties in Los Angeles and San Diego. Through these solar projects, AMCAL is able to secure a 10-year, 30% discount to its utility rate for solar hot water used by each building, with no capital investment.

Daytime Cooling Technology Sends Heat Into Outer Space

Daytime_Cooling_Device_Stanford_UA new type of passive solar structure designed by researchers at Stanford University in California (US) combines a thermal emitter and a solar reflector into one device that could cool buildings even in full sunshine. The daylight cooling technology, also applicable to car roofs and other structures, sends heat back into outer space and could hold promises for solutions to offset global warming.

China's Yingli Now Top PV Module Supplier

Yingli from China became the largest global supplier of photovoltaic (PV) modules in 2012 based on annual merchant shipments, while previous leader and besieged fellow Chinese producer Suntech Power dropped to fifth place, according to the latest analysis from information and analytics provider IHS.

First Solar: Solar plant acquisition, solar stocks soar

First_Solar_InstallFirst Solar, Inc. and NorthLight Power, LLC today announced that First Solar has acquired the 60 megawattAC (MW) North Star solar project that NorthLight has developed in Fresno County, Calif. NorthLight is a joint venture of Renewable Energy Corporation ASA and Summit Power Group, LLC. Terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Solar Decathlon China 2013: First Solar Donates Solar to IMUT Team

SD_China_LogoFirst Solar, Inc. announced today that a team of students from Inner Mongolia University of Technology (IMUT) will use the Company's advanced thin-film solar photovoltaic (PV) modules to power its house in the 2013 Solar Decathlon China competition. First Solar donated 150 of its PV modules with a peak generating capacity of 13 kilowatts (KW) to IMUT's "Team Green Sun" and will provide technical support for the project team, as well as collaborating with IMUT on solar education. This is the third time First Solar has supported the Solar Decathlon competitions.

In an independent survey of European installers carried out by the Bonn based market and opinion research institute EuPD Research, installers in Germany, France and the UK gave Krannich Solar GmbH & Co. KG top marks for customer loyalty, satisfaction and for the distribution of solar modules and inverters. For these services, Krannich Solar have received the premium "Top PV Supplier" seal once again from EuPD Research. This seal is given out each year only to those wholesalers who are rated particularly highly in installer surveys in comparison to the competition.
