This year's Intersolar South America will take place at the Expo Center Norte in Sao Paulo (Brazil) focusing on photovoltaics, PV production technologies, energy storage and solar thermal technologies. Given the increase in attention on off-grid renewables, Intersolar will address decentralised clean energy technology and business solutions in Latin America.
Building on established partnerships with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and with Intersolar, ARE will organise and implement a half-day information and mobilisation Workshop on Off-Grid Rural Electrification on 22 August 2017 (14:00 - 17:30) to bring energy access to the next level in LAC. After a key note speech from IDB, invited high-level speakers from the public and private sector including IDB, OLADE and Endev as well as Fundacion Acciona, Generaciones Fotovoltaica de la Mancha Iberdrola, Practical Action, Trama TecnoAmbientalwill be invited to share their experiences and know-how.
The workshop, which will end with a networking reception, will cover:
- Latin America: outlook on renewable off-grid energy
- Policy frameworks and financing setup for clean off-grid rural electrification in Latin America
- Smart Renewable Energy: Industrial Micro/Mini-Grid Concepts & Technologies / PV / Storage Systems
- Renewable energies and their role in rural development
Registration: Participation costs R$100 and should be done via the Intersolar South America website HERE.
In addition, the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and ARE have expressed their interest to work together with the common objective to promote SEforALL targets. The half-day information and mobilisation workshop will also serve as a platform to collect case studies in the region for a joint publication which will address innovative business models for clean energy access (private sector) and key recommendations for best working regulatory frameworks (public sector) for Latin America and the Caribbean.
